Graphics - TV commercials, corporate events...

This post is just about graphics. I think I should show some of the work I have done besides illustration, animation, 3D and compositing.

Here you are going to see mostly intros, outros, animated logos, maps, that kind of stuff. I remember having worked on a bunch of pilots as cameraman and/or animator. The following video is a compilation of the most relevant work from the years 2008 - 2010. It includes material from TV commercials, corporate events and TV shows.

Footage from policemen, firefighters, etc., is not mine. My job in this one was to create an intro for a show about cops: their everyday duty, how difficult it is to fight crime, and so on. So I took the main cut, added some filters, text and did a few masks.

I used the usual stuff for these graphics: Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.

Animation Reel (August 2010)

Updated version of the previous demo reel from 2008. Most of the included scenes were done by myself in After Effects. 3D work was done in Maya. I take credit for most of the illustrations, except for the ones in the "priest scene" (minutes 0:30, 1:00). The 3D soccer characters are not mine, I just animated them. 3D models like the ones in the "priest scene" were provided to me. My job was to illuminate and render those scenes.

The rotoscoping scenes nar the end were done in After Effects. I used clone brush and a few layers were in 3D perspective.

Logos are property of their respective companies.

Charters Ecuador TV Spot

"Charters Ecuador" needed this commercial ASAP, this was done overnight. Their "Soccer Package" included flight tickets, hotel rooms and tickets to attend the Ecuadorian Soccer team's games in the "Copa America Argentina 2011" soccer cup.

Both 3D models (airplane and soccer ball) were provided to me so I am not taking credit for them. I just animated them in Maya. Compositing was done in After Effects. Audio FX and voice over were added by editor & friend Miguel Montalvo, from Ace Media Films (Quito, Ecuador).

Take a look!

City Discotheque

I landed this job thanks to my friends from Uptitude Media. They got in a challenge to redesign this discotheque located in the city of Quito, Ecuador. The guidelines where "we want to see black & white". The owners wanted to see the furniture and the floor just black and white.

We began doing it but found out it needed color. This images show our proposition; they liked it but it was not exactly what they wanted. In the end they chose us for the next stage and we basically turned everything to grayscale and black & white.

Render settings are just basic, I used mental ray in Maya, straight shadows, nothing too fancy. This was my first architectural visualization. All was modeled in Maya. We measured the real place, took a lot of pictures and worked with the floor plans too. The project was done back in the year 2008.

Here is a look of the first proposition. Later I will add some render pictures from another project.

The Recyclables

A few shots from the 2D/3D animation project written by Fatima Viteri. I was in charge of 3D animation, compositing and audio post-production. This project was developed by a group of Ecuadorian artists on Fatima's request. She presented this 3-episode cartoon as part of her thesis project for the Catholic University of Leuven, in Belgium.

This was the very first shot from Episode 1, the bottle-shaped spaceship was modeled and animated in Maya by myself. The space background was painted by a former mentor and good friend of mine, Ecuadorian animator Gustavo Idrovo.

In this second shot, you will see another spaceship that I modeled. I did all the animation in both scenes (including the falling liquid) except for the characters and the spaceship's interior.

Now the spaceship is about to land in our planet. The smoke and compositing where done in After Effects.

Here you will see a compilation of some of the 3D vehicles that I animated. Please keep in mind that they were provided to me, I am not the author nor the owner. My job was to animate them and do the final compositing.

Animation Reel (March 2008)

This was my first demo reel. All work that you see in here was done while I was a student and an intern in the "Ozmosis" TV show, which aired for a few years in the Ecuadorian TV station Ecuavisa International.
